We offer you our selection of Coelogyne and other allied genera (Pholidota, Dendrochilum...).
The type species of the genus, which has about 200 species, distributed in about twenty sections, is Ceologyne cristata, but it was Coelogyne rumphii which was described first, in 1750 (then described in the genus Angraecum).
Coelogynes are pseudobulb orchids, native to South Asia, from the Southeast to Oceania. They grow mainly as epiphytes but sometimes as lithophytes or terrestrials. They are found in all climates.
